Not your average shepherds pie!

Well ladies and gentlemen if you love shepherds pie you’ll LOVE THIS RECIPE!  It’s your basic Shepherds pie with a little something extra!

You’ll need:

6 pieces of bacon (cooked and crumbled)

2 cups of cheese, divided (more or less depending on your love for cheese!)

4 small to medium potatoes

1/2 cup milk

5-6 cups beef broth (for boiling your potatoes!)

1 cup beef broth (or you can reuse your potato water!)

2 tablespoons ketchup

2 tablespoons floor

1 tablespoon garlic, minced

1 small to medium onion diced

2 1/2 cups of mixed vegetables (cooked)

1 lb of ground meat (or your choice of meat)

First add your 5-6 cups of beef broth to a pot, add half of your onion and all of your garlic.  Add your potatoes and bring to a boil.  Once the potatoes are done, drain and return to the pot.  Add your milk and mash until they are a consistency you like.  Add 1 cup of cheese, stir well and set aside.   Add your ground meat and the rest of your onions to a skillet and cook fully.  Drain off the excess fat and return to the pan.  Sprinkle in your two tablespoons of flour and stir until your meat is evenly coated and then add your ketchup.  Again stir until evenly coated.  Add your beef broth about a 1/4 cup at a time, stirring until well mixed and sauce starts to thicken.  I usually add about 1/2 to 3/4 cups of the broth total. Once this is done, layer your meat evenly on the bottom and top with the veggies.   Spread your veggies evenly and top them with your mashed potatoes and again, spread evenly.  Top your potatoes  with 1 cup of cheese and then sprinkle your bacon on top!  cook on 400 for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese looks tasty and your done!

My family Loves this recipe and I hope you do too!

Quick, hearty and within your budget breakfast!

I was  looking for things to make for breakfast that my kids could just grab and go.  One of these things was mini frittatas!!!!  They were so easy to make and now my kids have a great breakfast to start their day!

ham and cheese frittata

You’ll need :

8 eggs

1/4 cup milk

3 slices of lunch-meat ham (use whatever meat you have, just cook it first!) diced

1  cup of cheese

1/2 cup broccoli

1/2 onion, diced

2 small potatoes (diced and cooked) I fried mine but you can cook them however

First you want to heat up your oven, set it to 400 degrees.  Then I fried my potatoes with the onions.  This took about 20 minutes on med heat stirring frequently.  Then you will want to mix your eggs and milk together until well blended.  Set aside your eggs.  Take about a tablespoon, depending on your preference, of potatoes and put them in each muffin tin.  Next add your meat and cheese and whatever veggies you may want to add.  Once your oven is heated put your frittatas in for about 20 to 30 minutes until the poofs up and is starting to brown.  When you remove your frittatas they will be poofy and then go flat, this is normal…  let them cool and then freeze them!  WALA!  Hearty breakfast for those rushed school mornings!  Heat them for a minute and enjoy!

Do you love your face and hate blackheads?

Well I do ladies and gentlemen, and unfortunately my daughter had inherited the hatred for them as well.  I am very funny about my skin so I try to take car of it as best I can.  GELATIN FACE-MASKS!  My husband found this idea on the internet and we both wanted to try because Biore’ are just out of our budget.  All you need is a small bowl to mix in, a tablespoon of gelatin, and 1-3 tablespoons of WARM milk.

Again, use WARM milk, if you use cold milk the gelatin will start to congeal, and that’s not good!  Mix the milk and gelatin together until smooth, maybe a minute or so.  Smear that wonderful mixture on your face, or where you have blackheads- avoid hairy areas-it may rip it out.  Wait about 30 minutes for it to dry and literally just peal it off!  you can speed up the process a bit by using a hair dryer on low-don’t burn yourself now, I’m not responsible!  And that’s it! It was really that easy! AND my skin felt great afterwards!  Thanks and have a great day!

Have a little fun after you wipe…

Well ladies and gentlemen, I was feelin crafty with the young ones, (2 and 4 year old little girls to be exact) when I came across a pin… CROWNS OUT OF TOILET PAPER ROLLS! It was easy enough for the girls to enjoy and definitely was a craft that stayed in my budget!  All you need to start is a toilet paper roll, scissors, whatever you would like to decorate with (we used washable paint), and a bobby pin.

First you cut your crown shape from the toilet paper roll, i just did triangles. If your child is old enough draw lines for them to cut along by themselves!

Next cut a slit at the base, about a 1/4 inch wide and 1/8 inch from the base.  This is where you will put your bobby pin!

NOW HAVE FUN AND DECORATE!!!!!  The girls loved being princesses for the day!

*NOTE: they stay in the hair better if it is pulled back!

DIY baby Velcro bows!

I have a baby niece and I LOVE to put bows in her hair!  But like i said she’s a baby and has very little hair, sooooooo I decided to make her some Velcro bows!  They are so easy to make and so inexpensive!  You’ll wonder why you haven’t been doing this all along!!!!!  you’ll need about a 2 inch piece of Velcro, ribbon, buttons or beads, scissors and a glue gun.

20130822_144735

First cut the Velcro into strips lengthwise, and then cut each strip in half.

Tie your bow, don’t make it too large or the Velcro will not hold it, and then using your glue gun, glue it to the Velcro.

Add a bead, or just leave as is!   So easy ladies and gentlemen, so easy…ENJOY!
